Band

Band

Instrumental music class (band) is offered in grade 7, grade 8/9 and in senior high at Sexsmith Secondary School.

As students progress through the music program, their lives become enriched through a sense of participation, discipline and achievement in the band.

The Band Parents’ Association also plays a vital role in the band program. Money is raised for purchasing instruments, music and supplies. Travel is also a big part of the band program and students are given the opportunity  to participate in festivals, workshops and band trips.

Dizzy Gillespie once said “music is to be shared.”  This sharing of music by students helps to develop a life-long enjoyment and appreciation of music in a life of learning.

Drama

Drama

Drama 10, Drama 10/20, Drama 20 and Drama 30 are offered at Sexsmith Secondary.

While Drama 10 courses allow the student to play, discover talents, and work with group dynamics, the Drama 20 and 30 levels focus more on acting and directing, respectively.

Drama is also offered at the Grade 8 and 9 level. Separate courses are offered, as well as specific ones like Clowing and Play Production. All are intended to help the student become more confident and expressive.
